Dhukrono of Mor Yulios Elias Qoro, the Delegate of the Holy See of Antioch.  There will be tri-mass on 21st at 8.00 a.m. Evening prayer and procession is scheduled from St. Elias Valley Chappel, Oonukkal to Mor Ignatius Dayro Cathedral at 5.00 p.m. on 20th Friday.

THOUSANDS OF PILGRIMS AT MANJINIKKARA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 77th DUKRONO OF PATRIARCH ST. ELIAS III 

Manjinikkara hill situated near to the town of Pathanmathitta, turned into a sea of humanity as tens of thousands of believers from different parts of the State congregated there to offer prayers at the tomb of St. Elias III as part of the Holy Father’s 77th Dukrono feast on Friday.

Pilgrims walked barefoot hundreds of miles, all the way to Manjinikkara in processions from different parishes from across the state. People from other religious faiths too have been undertaking the pilgrimage to the saint’s tomb. Free stalls to serve the pilgrims with refreshments were seen at different points on the wayside of various roads leading to Manjinikkara Dayro. Hundreds of devotees from other parts of India also participated in the pilgrimage.

When the pilgrims reached Omallur junction near Manjinikkara Dayro, a traditional welcome was given to them under the leadership of Mor Severios Malke Mourad, the Metropolitan of Jerusalem & Jordan dioceses who came here as the delegate to His Holiness the Patriarch of Antioch & All the East. The Metropolitan was accompanied by Mor Divanasious Geevarghese, the Abbot of Manjinikkara Dayro, Mor Athanasius Geevarghese, the Assistant Metropolitan of Simhasana churches, the Archbishop of Knanaya diocese and the Metropolitans of Niranam, Kollam, Thumpamon and Bangalore dioceses. For the next few hours, the Manjinikkara Dayro and its premises were seen flooded with tens of thousands of devotees.

At 5.30 pm a public meeting was held at the Dayro premises as part of the 77th annual pilgrimage year. Mor Divanasious Geevarghese, the Metropolitan of Manjinikkara Dayro welcomed the honorable guests and the faithful. Mr.Mathew T Thomas, the Minister of State for Transport, inaugurated the meeting by lighting the traditional lamp.  

The function was presided over by Mor Philexinos Yuhanon, the Metropolitan of Malabar diocese. The key note address was delivered by Mor Severios Malke Mourad, the patriarchal delegate and Metropolitan of Jerusalem & Jordan dioceses after which the Metropolitan officially inaugurated "teshbuhto" – Malankara Vision, the new internet television channel of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church promoted by SOCMNet.org. Metropolitans, priests and local government authorities also spoke on the occasion.

On Saturday 14th at 3 a.m., a holy tri-mass will be offeered at the St. Stephens’ Cathedral, Manjinikkara by Mor Milithios Yuhanon of Thumpamon diocese followed by a holy tri-Mass led by Mor Theodosius Mathews of Kollam diocese at the St. Ignatius Dayro church at 5.30 am.  The 77th  Dukrono feast of St. Elias III will come to an end with the celebration of Holy Qurbono by the patriarchal delegate Mor Severios Malke Mourad at 8.30 a.m. in the Dayro church followed by prayers at the tomb of St. Elias III.

This year a 30-member delegation from Sweden and Jerusalem is accompanying the patriarchal delegate to participate in the dukrono of St. Elias III.

Rousing reception to Patriarch

The Patriarch of Antioch and head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka-I Iwas, was accorded a rousing reception by the clergy and the laity at Manjanikkara here on Thursday.

The Patriarch, accompanied by Catholicose Abbon Mor Baselios Thomas-I, Mathyas Mor Peelexinos, Patriarchal Vicar; Augen Mor Cleemis, California Archbishop; Daniel Mor Cleemis and Beirut Archbishop, reached Manjanikkara, a major pilgrim centre of Syrian that houses tomb of the Syrian Patriarch, St. Elias-III, in the afternoon.

Addressing the faithful, the Patriarch recalled the contributions of St. Elias-III and other Church leaders to ensure peace and harmony in the Church. He was received by the Manjanikkara Dayaro chief, Geevarghese Mor Divannasios, T.U. Kuruvila, MLA who is also the Dayaro secretary, Kuriakose Mr Eulios Metropolitan and Geevarghese Mr Athanaseus Metropolitan.

The Patriarch offered prayers at the tomb of St. Elias-III and at the Dayaro Cathedral. He also blessed the believers who thronged the Cathedral premises. Kuriakose Mor Eulios and Geevarghese Mor Athanaseus presented a memento to the Patriarch.

The Patriarch also elevated the St. Mary’s Jacobite Church at Kundara to the status of a cathedral on the occasion. The Patriarch has conferred the ‘Chevalier’ title to T.V. Thomson of Kottayam Simhasana Church on the occasion.

Those who cannot attend the function of the Patriarch of Antioch & All the East at Manjanikkara, Radio Malankara Team, in cooperation with Atheeva Technologies, broadcasted the event live from Manjinikkara Dayaro.  

His Holiness will visit Manjinikkara Dayro on 23, October 2008

His Holiness will reach Manjinikkara Dayaro at around 12.00 noon 23, October 2008 and will offer prayers at the tombs.  Moran will be received by  Mor Julius Kuriakose, Geevarghese Mor Deevannasios,Mor Geevarghese Athanasius and resident monks and priests.

His Holiness will lay the foundation stone of St. Elias III platinum jubilee memorial building

There will be a short meeting inside the church in which a few mementoes will be given to faithfull. Mr. T. V Thomsan (Kottayam Sihmasana Church) will be decorated with the title of Chevalier. H.H. will take rest from 1.30 to 3.30 PM  and then proceed to Pathenumthitta.

Aghanda Prarthana on the 141st birth day of H.H Moran Mor Ignathios Elias III  

There will be a continuous prayer (Aghanda Prarthana) on the 141st birth day of H.H Moran Mor Ignathios Elias III (13th October 2008). The prayer is scheduled on 2nd Saturday of October every year. This year it will start after Holy Qurbano on Saturday 11th October at 10 AM and end on 12th Sunday after Holy Qurbano.. 

Dukrono feast of Mor Osthatheos Bennyamin Joseph  

The dukrono feast of  Mor Osthatheos Bennyamin Joseph was on 16th June 2008 . Holy Qurbono of Con-celebration on three Altars offered on that day. Chief Celebrant of the Holy Qurbono was H.E Mor Thevodosios Mathews of Kollam Diocese. Hundreds of faithful attended.

Dukrono feast of Apostolic delegate in Malankara, Mor Julius  Elias 

The Dukrono fest of  Apostolic delegate in Malankara, Mor Julius  Elias  has been celebrated in this Dayara on 23rd February 2008. Holy Qurbono of Con-celebration on three Altars offered on that day . In the main altar Chief celebrant was H.E. Deevannasios Geevarghese Metropolitan of this Dayara. Hundreds of faithful attended.

The 76th Dukrono feast of the Patriarch St. Elias III came to a close with the holy Eucharist at Manjanikkara Dayro in Omallur, on Saturday 16 February 2008.

Adequate facilities were arranged for the thousands of participants who reached the Dayro as part of the annual Manjanikkara pilgrimage from February 10 to 16.

All the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox churches in India observe February 10 as the Patriarchal-flag hoisting day. On that day a special Holy Tri-Mass was offered at the Dayro cathedral by H.E. Yuhananon Mor Milithios (Metropolitan of Thumpamon diocese), H.E. Mathews Mor Thevodosios (Metropolitan of Kollam diocese) and H.E. Geevarghese Mor Athanasios (Dayro auxiliary Metropolitan).

After the Holy Mass, Patriarchal flag was hoisted on the Dayro premises. Discourses on spiritual themes and the life of the saint were held on all days from February 11 to 14.

On the pilgrim sangamam day on February 15, pilgrims arriving from various parts of the state by foot were given a traditional reception at the Omallur Cross Junction under the leadership of abbot of the Dayor H.E. Mor Devanasios Geevarghese and auxiliary Metropolitan H.E. Mor Athanasios Geevargis.

The pilgrim sangamam on the Dayro premises were presided over by His Beatitude the Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, the Metropolitan Trustee & head of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church. The honorable Minister for State, Mons Joseph, inaugurated the sangamam. Patriarchal-delegate and the Archbishop of Mosul, H.E. Mor Gregorios Simon Sleeba delivered the benediction. H.E. Mor Philexinos Yuhananon, Metropolitan of Malabar diocese, delivered the key-note address.

Chief Editor & Chief Moderator of Shroro & SOCM Forum Mr. Thomas Daniel (Reji) who was honored earlier by Patriarch H.H Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas with the title of "Chevalier", received this honor from Catholicose Aboon Mor Baselious Thomas I at the sangamam.

On February 16, at 3 am, Holy Mass was led by H.E. Mor Milithios Yuhananon held at St. Stephen's church situated adjacent to the Dayro cathedral.

On Saturday at 5:30 A.M, Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I led a holy tri-mass at the Manjanikkara Dayro Church. Metropolitans Mor Severius Abraham and Mor Chrysostomos Markose were the co-celebrants.

The pilgrim week and the 76th Dukhrono celebrations of St. Elias III concluded with the Holy Mass con-celebrated at 8.30 am at the Dayro cathedral by His Eminence the Patriarchal delegate, followed by a Rasa (procession).

MANJINIKKARA PILGRIM SANGAMAM TODAY

Pathanamthitta, Feb 15: Thousands of faithful from different parts of the state will reach Manjinikkara, the abode of Patriarch St. Ignatius Elias III, for the annual pilgrimage on Friday.

Arrangements had been completed for the pilgrim sangamam on the Manjinikkara dayaro premises. Various groups of pilgrims will reach Manjinikkara from early hours of Friday itself and by evening the dayaro premises is expected to be flooded with pilgrims.

At 3.00 pm, the main batch of the pilgrims will be given a rousing reception at the Shrine of St. Elias III located at Omalloor junction under the leadership of St. Ignatius dayara, St. Stephens church and other nearby churches. At 4.00 pm the pilgrims will be welcomed to Manjinikkara dayro.

The pilgrim sangamam to be held at 6.30 pm at the dayaro premises will be presided over by Catholicos and Metropolitan trustee of the Malankara Syrian Church, Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I. The welcome speech will be delivered by H.E. Mor Dionysius Geevarghese, abode of Manjinikkara dayaro and the meeting will be inaugurated by Shri. Mons Joseph, the Minister of State. Archbishop H.E. Mor Gregorios Saliba Shamoun, the patriarchal delegate, will deliver the benedictory address.

HOLY MASS ON FEBRUARY 16, 2008

On Saturday February 16, at 3 am, Holy Mass led by H.E. Yuhananon Mor Milithios will be held at St. Stephen's church, situated adjacent to the dayaro cathedral.

At 5.30 am, the Holy Tri-Mass at the dayro cathedral will be solemnized by His Beatitude the Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, assisted by H.E. Mor Severios Abraham and H.E. Mor Chrysostmos Markose.

The pilgrim week and the 76th feast of St. Elias III will come to an end with the Holy Mass to be con-celebrated at 8.30 am at the dayro cathedral by His Eminence the Patriarchal delegate, followed by a Rasa.

The 16th dukrono  of late M'Shablono thobo Yacub Mor Yulios, Metropolitan of Simhasana Churches and Institutions in India was celebrated  in this Dayara on 24-01-2008. Tripple Mass conducted and the chief celebrant  was   H.E.Deevannasios Geevarghese Metropolitan of this Dayara. Priests and hundreds of devotees attended the H.Qurbana and after the prayer of incense there was nercha  neyyappam and pazham  served as a blessing..
